A Message from the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is excited to be a part of the Nebraska 150 Celebration by working with partners and communities statewide to enhance the health and wellness of all Nebraskans. The NE 150 Challenge is a fantastic opportunity to help people live better and healthier lives by focusing on getting active. How fitting is it that we are celebrating 150 years as a state and by chance the Physical Activity Guidelines for American’s suggests achieving 150 minutes a week of physical activity for significant health improvement.

The NE 150 Challenge is a year-long, web-based wellness challenge that begins on January 1, 2017. It is free for individuals to participate and the challenge offers motivation for achieving and tracking physical activity minutes, walking/running/biking miles, race participation and trail usage.

I urge you to participate in the challenge and hope that you enjoy the benefits of a physically active lifestyle. It is really easy to get started: (1) sign up to participate in the NE 150 Challenge. (2) grab a pair of shoes, a good friend/family member/coworker/pet and head out for a walk or run on the sidewalk, trail or go to the nearest park; (3) track your activity on the challenge website. Thank you for taking the time to participate in the Nebraska 150 Celebration and the Nebraska 150 Challenge!
